Cole thinks Colin Kaepernick gives the 49ers the best shot to win: "Think about it this way, in the Super Bowl last year that pass from Eli Manning to Mario Manningham on the game-wnning touchdown drive, can Alex Smith make that throw? No. Two years ago in the Super Bowl, Aaron Rodgers to Greg Jennings, can Alex Smith make those throws? No. Look I’m not saying Kaepernick can absolutely make those throws because those guys are more advanced no question about it, but you don’t get to the point where those guys can make those throws unless you give them time to develop. You can’t just walk out there and do it. And we all know Alex Smith has reached his ceiling. And it’s a pretty good ceiling – I don’t want to use this as an opportunity to just trash Alex Smith – he’s a good quarterback who could in the right situation, with a great defense and a great running back, might be able to sneak out one Super Bowl victory in his life somewhere along the line a la Brad Johnson. He’s probably better than Brad Johnson. But this is an era where, and look at the last 9 years and look at the quarterbacks who have won Super Bowls, its Roethlisberger, its Eli, its Peyton, its Brees, its Rodgers. You have to have a superior trigger man if you expect to win a Super Bowl and give your self the best opportunity, and Kaepernick is along those lines."
